Weekends were made for...

Running! I thought for sure I'd read a post by Jeremy of Hick about a great race, with some pictures of what the rest of us missed... guess not! Come on fellas, get with it! At lease some pictures to see what goes on at Planet Eglin!
I have been running every-other morning about 530... it's cool and calm, and not too dusty. Today was a perfect day for it, not a cloud in the sky and the breeze was lite and there was no dust. I got a few pics and hope they attach this time!
If one of you makes it by Cuppy's... send me some coffee! Tell Lilly she needs to support those of us defending her freedom and send some coffee to the three of us!
Take it easy fellas! Missin ya all!

The Civilian side

Well, here I am! Made it to Kandahar, Afghanistan... as a civilian! How crazy is that? You know I am struggling... some of these folks are a walking uniform instruction violation... but I have been biting my tongue! It's a shame, because there are so many other nations here and the folks representing us don't always do it well!
Anyway, things are pretty good here.. it's dusty, dirty and a deployment for real. Now having said that, there is a coffee shop out the back door of the fire house, and a nail place too! So, I am roughing it, but not too bad!
I missed a 5k run yesterday ;-( just saw the sign today when I went to MWR. Still not sure what things I can and can't use as a contractor, but I doubt they'd complain it I ran! I have been running in the morning before I start shift... did 2 miles yesterday, going for 2.5 tomorrow. It's a lil tough because of the elevation and the dust, but I am not gonna stop! Usually abot 45-50 degrees in the morning, so it's a nice time to run... and yup, I wear my reflective belt!
We are moving out of Kandahar soon.. not 100% sure of my next location, but you know I'll keep ya posted! Take it easy! G

Thoughts for the day

So I get up early today on my day off to go do Squadron PT, JUST SO I COULD GET A GOOD RUN IN.. Yea so you all are saying what the hell does this have to do with THOUGHTS for the day. Well after getting up early and speaking with Tammy on the phone I decided to lay back down for a little while, watch some downloaded TV shows and then listen to some music as I was taking a nap.. So as you can see NO NAP.. I moved ALL my music to my hard drive and the only thing left on my laptop is what have gotten recently..Go figure " Kenny Chesney".. So you're all still saying big friggin deal.. Yea me too until the first damm song I choose to listen to is "Road & the Radio".... Do you all remember.. Hick?? Well for me this song will always remind me of us ALL saying "TILL NEXT TIME" Yea I never realized it until I listened to it 4, 5, 6 times and it gets me every time.. After saying good bye to TWO GREAT people and my family and not knowing how long it's going to be until we all see each other again, this song will bring TEARS to my EYES EVERY TIME...
Here is the funny thing, all the GOOD people I met at Kunsan are in the same boat.. There have been SO many things going on back there, too many to list here in "MY THOUGHTS" but for all of you who have you OWN little things going on, it amazes me how FAST things can go from one end of the spectacle to the other..I said I won't list them and I won't, but it HURTS even more listening to that friggin song, remembering how things used to be.
I miss you guys, and no I am not turning into a SAP but that song just hit a switch with me this morning and I am going to listen to it again 4 or 5 more times...The funny thing is how CLOSE we all are with E-mail and Chat.. Some people will ask me someday, "T-hoe how the HELL did you know about that", well T-hoe, George, John I am sure ALL know how to keep up on things when no one thinks we are. So I will close my thoughts for the day and see if this song if too big to attach.. If it does come through LISTEN to it..

Texas- dawn

As we eye balled over the pass, it was a black Mack, with a can on the back and a Jaguar hallin' ass...

That song might be too old for some of you... but it was about the Rubber Duck from the movie Convoy! Anyway...

On my way ! It's 4am on Monday, and I am waiting on a bus... had a bad ass goatee grown in and on my last day of active duty (30 SEP), I had to shave it off! hmmm Ironic?
Whatever! Start processing today. Wonder if I will be here as long as John? I hope not!
I'll keep ya posted!
