Well, here I am! Made it to Kandahar, Afghanistan... as a civilian! How crazy is that? You know I am struggling... some of these folks are a walking uniform instruction violation... but I have been biting my tongue! It's a shame, because there are so many other nations here and the folks representing us don't always do it well!
Anyway, things are pretty good here.. it's dusty, dirty and a deployment for real. Now having said that, there is a coffee shop out the back door of the fire house, and a nail place too! So, I am roughing it, but not too bad!
I missed a 5k run yesterday ;-( just saw the sign today when I went to MWR. Still not sure what things I can and can't use as a contractor, but I doubt they'd complain it I ran! I have been running in the morning before I start shift... did 2 miles yesterday, going for 2.5 tomorrow. It's a lil tough because of the elevation and the dust, but I am not gonna stop! Usually abot 45-50 degrees in the morning, so it's a nice time to run... and yup, I wear my reflective belt!
We are moving out of Kandahar soon.. not 100% sure of my next location, but you know I'll keep ya posted! Take it easy! G
